MAT Solutions custom software work is quoted per project. That is a scope boundary, not a fixed POS package or a promise that every business needs a custom build.
POS, inventory and integration answer different questions.
Point of sale
A POS workflow records a transaction at the moment of sale: products, prices, quantities, discounts, payment method, staff member and receipt or order details.
Inventory control
Inventory software keeps a useful record of products, quantities, locations, adjustments, purchases, sales, returns and the person responsible for a change.
Commerce connection
An integration moves agreed information between an existing website, checkout, catalogue, payment route or reporting tool. It should define the source of truth and the exceptions.
Custom system
A custom build becomes worth assessing when the business has specific roles, approval rules, locations or reporting needs that available tools cannot express cleanly.
Do not choose features before naming the record.
Before comparing screens, write down what the team needs to know at the end of a sale, a return, a delivery, a stock count and a shift. A useful system makes those moments agree without hiding the adjustments that still need review.
- Product catalogue: names, variants, prices, tax or category fields, suppliers and the information shown to staff or customers.
- Stock movement: receipts, transfers, counts, damage, adjustments, low-stock signals and locations.
- Sales and returns: what was sold, what payment route was selected, what was reversed, and who handled the exception.
- Reporting: daily totals, movement, open orders, margins or other decisions the owner actually repeats.
Payments and connectivity belong in the scope conversation.
Cash, card and digital payment
Decide whether the system only records a payment method or must verify a provider response, reconcile settlement, handle a failed attempt, or connect to a website. Compatibility with MMG, a bank, card terminal or other provider must be verified for the account, API and operating route involved.
Internet and offline behavior
If the connection is interrupted, should the team stop selling, capture a transaction for later review, or keep a limited local queue? Offline behavior adds synchronization and conflict decisions; it should never be assumed from the word “cloud.”
Hardware and exports
List the devices, barcode or receipt hardware, printers, browsers and export formats that are actually available. A workflow that works in a demonstration may still need careful testing with the business's devices.
Training and handover
Staff need a short path for opening a shift, correcting a mistake, handling a return and finding a report. Training, permissions, support, backups and a usable export are part of adoption, not afterthoughts.
A new POS is not automatically the right answer.
Keep the current tools when
The catalogue is small, one person owns the records, sales volume is manageable, and a simpler operating checklist or website will solve the actual issue.
Connect the current tools when
The website or checkout is useful, but staff are copying orders, stock or customer information into another record. Map the fields and source of truth before planning the connection.
Assess a focused system when
Several people need the same record, products move between locations, returns are difficult to trace, or recurring reports require manual reconstruction.
Scope a custom build when
The operation has specific rules, roles, approvals, offline needs or integrations that a configured product cannot handle safely. Separate must-have first-release work from later ideas.
Make the first software conversation useful.
What should POS software handle for a Guyana business?
A POS workflow may need to record products, prices, quantities, sales, returns, payment methods, users and end-of-day reporting. The right scope depends on the business, hardware, payment route, connectivity and the record the team needs to trust.
Can POS or inventory software connect to an existing website?
It may be possible, but verify the platform, provider, account permissions, API or export options and the data that must move between systems. Integration is not assumed from a product name alone.
Does MAT Solutions sell a prebuilt POS product?
MAT Solutions does not present this guide as a prebuilt POS product. The work begins with assessing the existing workflow, connecting useful systems where practical, or scoping a focused build when the business rules require it.
How much can custom POS or inventory software cost?
Custom software work is quoted per project. A final scope depends on products, locations, roles, checkout, payment providers, offline behavior, reports, security, hosting, migration, training and support.

Describe what you sell or track, where the product and sales records live today, what staff have to copy or correct, and what payment or connectivity constraints matter. That is enough to begin a grounded conversation without sending credentials or confidential records.
